Cleveland Heights (May 15, 2012) – Award-winning eco foodie documentary Vegucated is striking a chord with viewers at film festivals across the U.S. this season. The film’s Cleveland premiere will be hosted by the Cleveland Animal Rights Alliance and will take place on Thursday, June 7 at 7:00 PM at the Big Dog Theater in Coventry Village (2781 Euclid Heights Blvd). Filmmaker, Marisa Miller Wolfson, will be in attendance to conduct post-film Q&A. Pre-film reception with free vegan snacks in theater lobby beginning at 6:00 PM. $8 tickets available for purchase in advance through and $10 tickets available (cash only) at the door.

Part sociological experiment and part adventure comedy, Vegucated is an award-winning, guerrilla-style documentary that follows three meat- and cheese-loving New Yorkers who agree to abandon their old eating habits and adopt a vegan diet for six weeks. Hopeful the change will result in a healthier lifestyle and trimmer waistline, these volunteers — Ellen, Tesla, and Brian — are surprised to discover that much more than steak at stake and that the fate of the planet may well fall on their plates.

Thought-provoking and always entertaining, Vegucated takes viewers on an eye-opening journey of transformation far beyond a few tofu food substitutions as three daring people share one common adventure and ultimately find their own paths in creating a greener, cleaner world, one bite at a time.

Vegucated world premiered last fall at the Toronto Independent Film Festival, where it won Best Documentary. In March 2012, Vegucated picked up the Best Food Issue film award at the Cinema Verde Environmental Film Festival and screened to a packed house at the Environmental Film Festival in the Nation’s Capital, the largest eco film fest in the country. The film has found traction outside the film festival circuit as well, as a bestseller on iTunes and Amazon Instant, with over 100 grassroots screenings licensed worldwide.
